We began 12 years ago in a tiny storefront where safron sold antique textiles (mostly clothing & linens from her 30 year collection consisting mostly of European handmade laces & embroideries). She added jewelry & some great new clothing that "celebrated textiles" in fun, eclectic, & stylish ways.  She discovered that Johnny Was made pieces that respectfully nodded to her antique collection.  Through the years, he and his many lines have stayed one step ahead of all the copy-cats & his work & material is of much higher quality.  We carry ALL the Johnny Was lines today, but only in small numbers.  We carefully curate & order only one to four pieces of any style that are MADE TO ORDER to insure customer exclusivity.  This is absolutely true of ALL our designers.      

 

Clearly, safron is a Francophile & long-time Coco fan!  She was one of the first in the mid-west to order from French & European lines.  Many of these original lines have gone blockbuster in the last few years & some simply were so successful w a certain look 6 -8 years ago, that they are now knocked off & seem to only do their looks over & over again.  Of course, we moved on & now focus on smaller, more art inspired & UNIQUE pieces.      Recently, we've discovered some American Designers who are doing their own textiles & use them in their very original ways.  Since smaller, they are still more affordable than other American Couturiers & have more input in manufacturing.  Recently, safron ordered several pieces made to her own specifications in terms of size, length, etc. which better suited her clients' requirements.  When only 2 pieces of one style come in & it makes YOU look so terrific, isn't it great to know it's really just YOU?
